J2 Retail Systems Introduces Integrated POS Touchscreen Computer
Retail Systems USA, a manufacturer of PC-based touchscreens, LCD touchscreen monitors and point of sale (POS) hardware to the retail, hospitality and leisure industries, announces the availability of the J2 650, a POS touchscreen computer.
The J2 650 supports multiple operating systems including Microsoft Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows Vista, Microsoft Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS), Windows CE 5.0 and 6.0, MS-DOS, and Linux. Power options for the J2 650 include a wide variety of Intel socket 775 processors ranging from an Intel Celeron Core1.60GHz processor to an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz processor. With the ability to hold up to 4GB of high-speed 800MHz memory, and two hot-swappable 2.5-inch high-speed SATA drives that can be configured as a 0 or 1 RAID array, the J2 650 is designed to handle the most demanding applications that require a large amount of storage capacity and performance. The design of the J2 650 is based on the Intel embedded processor and chipset roadmap, delivering a seven-year product lifecycle, which reduces the overall cost of ownership.
Power savings
The J2 650 incorporates power savings technology found in today's notebook PCs, using the least amount of power possible, without sacrificing the necessary performance. Software utilities are also included, allowing users to configure the J2 650 power settings. In fanless operations, the J2 650 includes an energy-saving green mode, which turns off the fans and powers down the Intel Celeron Core processor speed to 1.0GHz, reducing power consumption by up to 25 percent. The J2 650 also features a built-in ambient light sensor which automatically adjusts to the ambient light for optimal viewing, while reducing power consumption.
Space-saving design
The J2 650 features a sleek compact design. Packaged in a small footprint with a 15-inch LCD display, the J2 650 features an "all in the head" design that fills the role of a countertop or wall/pole-mounted computer in the same unit, and is ideal for space-constrained environments.
The design of the J2 650 also allows for ease of maintenance and a lower total cost of ownership. The 650 uses a zero cable system that allows the motherboard to be upgraded in less than two minutes without unplugging any cables. Users can upgrade memory in less than one minute and upgrade the processor in less than 10 minutes. A hard drive hot-swap can be completed in 30 seconds.
Expansion ports and options
With five USB 2.0 ports and three serial ports, the J2 650 is ready to connect to a multitude of optional peripheral devices such as an integrated MSR, fingerprint reader, 2 x 20-line customer display, 8.4-inch secondary LCD, and 2D and 1D Omni-directional barcode scanner. The J2 650 also comes standard with two cash drawer ports, a printer power port and Gigabit Ethernet.
