Angela Diffly, Co-Founder of Restaurant Technology Network (RTN) has been named a top Digital Disruptor in the restaurant industry by QSR Magazine.
QSR Magazine's second annual Digital Disruptor Awards recognize change-makers and innovators in the restaurant technology industry who are “laying the blueprint for a more connected restaurant world.”
A Star is Born
In 2019, Diffly and Abigail Lorden, vice president and publisher of Hospitality Technology (HT), teamed up to launch Restaurant Technology Network (RTN), a membership community dedicated to technology innovation for restaurants. Diffly’s tireless efforts to bring standardization and collaboration to the industry are paying off. RTN Workgroups bring technology vendors and restaurant operators together to solve common industry problems, many of which have resulted in the industry’s first and only technology standards. They include: RTN’s Open API Framework, Menu Synchronization Specification, Customer Record Data and Transactional Data Standards, Restaurant Technology Capabilities Framework. Additional technical documentation, such as best practices and technical guidance, is also available.
Diffly is one of 21 industry innovators and change-makers recognized for shaping the restaurant technology industry. The magazine also included the following movers and shakers to the list:
- Gagan Sinha, SVP of Inspire Brands and a member of RTN’s Board of Governors,
- Rom Krupp, founder of OneDine and a member of RTN's Vendor Advisory Council. OneDine, an RTN member, was named HT’s Industry Hero in 20202 for helping restaurants with their off-prem pivots during the pandemic and beyond. bartaco, HT’s 2022 Breakthrough Award winner, credits OneDine’s technology for helping to transform its service model.
- Mary Melvin, Director of Restaurant Technology for Checkers and Rally’s Restaurants, is the trailblazer leading AI in the drive-thru at Checkers and Rally’s. Melvin is HT’s 2022 Top Women in Restaurant Technology - Lifetime Achievement award winner.
- Krystle Mobayeni, Co-Founder of BentoBox. Moyabeni was recognized as 2020 Top Women in Restaurant Technology - Innovator Award winner and in 2022, BentoBox received HT’s Industry Hero award.
- Jessica Valenzuela, Co-Founder of GoGoGuest, and HT’s 2022 Top Women in Restaurant Technology - Rising Star.
- Karl Goodhew, Chief Technology Officer, BurgerFi, who will be HT’s guest on the December 19, 2pm ET, episode of The Point webinar series, “The New Connectivity: Wireless WAN, Edge, 5G, and Beyond.”
