Executives from Taco Bell, Checkers & Rally’s and bartaco take to the stage to share their innovations and tech advancements at MURTEC Executive Summit on Friday morning, November 4.

Taco Bell  and its franchisee  Border Foods  partnered and successfully deployed  the Taco Bell Defy concept. Optimized for digital ordering, the first location in Minnesota includes three drive-thru lanes fully dedicated to mobile and delivery orders.

Checkers & Rally's  core initiatives include employing artificial intelligence technology at the drive-thru, and a new back-of-house design to help store-level team members operate more efficiently, while improving the guest experience.

bartaco  launched its very successful ‘On-Demand Hospitality’ business model, with an end-to-end digital guest experience that further elevates both the guest and employee experience, and enables service leaders to be more guest-focused.

These restaurants will be profiled on hospitalitytech.com and featured in an upcoming issue of the HT Alert newsletter.

“In arguably the most unpredictable period in restaurant history, operators had to quickly adapt to new business models while meeting ever changing customer demands safely and securely,” said Courtney Radke, National CISO for Retail and Hospitality at Sunnyvale, California-based Fortinet.  “I commend and congratulate those that leaned in and used technology to not only survive but thrive during this challenging time!  We are equally honored and proud to be the sponsor of this year’s MURTEC Breakthrough Awards.”

“This year’s Breakthrough Award winners further demonstrate that restaurant technology is the path forward for all restaurant formats,” says Robert Firpo-Cappiello, editor-in-chief of Hospitality Technology magazine. “These efforts improve both the customer and employee experience while increasing throughput. MURTEC Executive Summit attendees will love the actionable items from these innovators.”

MURTEC Breakthrough Awards are presented to select restaurant companies that have demonstrated outstanding vision and achievement in operational and guest-facing technologies. Winning companies are chosen based on vision and execution; consideration is given to size, resources and individual market segment benchmarks to ensure that companies from across the industry are recognized. Nominations were collected in Q2 2022 and judged by the HT editorial staff and its Advisory Board on the basis of innovation, thought leadership, execution and results.
