Pay-at-the-Table Tech Snags Operator Innovator of Year Honor for Dickie Brennan's

5/23/2014
Dickie Brennan’s Restaurants has been named Operator Innovator of the Year by the National Restaurant Association (NRA) for its use of the RAIL at its New Orleans-based restaurants.  Dickie Brennan’s and Viableware were one of three finalists in the Technology category that were nominated for the award and were honored live at the annual NRA Show (May 17-20) in Chicago.

The Operator Innovation Awards are the only program where foodservice operators recognize and celebrate their peers who are transforming the restaurant industry through innovation.  Dickie Brennan’s and Viableware were selected by an independent team of restaurant operator experts from across the industry.

The RAIL is a handheld device designed to look like the traditional bill presentation folder used at most full-service restaurants –but unlike the original, the RAIL will accept EMV or smart card payments, allow guests to securely self-swipe credit or debit cards, auto-calculate the tips, split the bill multiple ways, pay-by-item, and receive email receipts.

Dickie Brennan’s Restaurants – including The Palace CafÉ and Tableau – were among the first to introduce the RAIL payment platform to their guests.

“Using the RAIL devices, we’ve been able to provide our guests with a more private and secure payment experience – one that allows them to keep their card with them at all times,” said Dickie Brennan, owner of Dickie Brennan’s Restaurants.  “Additionally, our overall service is enhanced because our wait staff is able to spend more time providing personalized attention, and less time running credit cards to the POS.”

The RAIL seamlessly integrates with leading restaurant POS systems from MICROS, NCR, Aloha, and Dinerware and has been certified to the security standards of 11 of the leading payment processors.
