PAR Springer-Miller Announces Visa PCI Validation
PAR Springer-Miller Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of PAR Technology and the leading provider of guest-centric hospitality management systems, is pleased to announce that Visa USA has confirmed the upcoming SMS Host Hospitality Management Solution release as validated with its latest Payment Application Best Practices (PABP).
"Keeping financial data secure and private is a top priority in today's business climate," says John Springer-Miller, CEO of PAR Springer-Miller. "This is just another way PAR Springer-Miller is helping its customers in terms of innovation and accreditation within the fast-moving hospitality technology industry."
Visa, in collaboration with MasterCard, has incorporated these Card Information Security Program (CISP) standards into an industry-wide approach known as the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard. The standard applies to credit card merchants, service providers and payment applications.
"We rely on our SMS Host system to keep transactions running smoothly and securely for our employees and, most importantly, our guests," says Carol Beggs, Vice President, Technology of Sonesta International Hotels Corporation. "This validation not only helps us meet mandated requirements, but also allows us to provide our customers a level of data safety that is a key factor in building strong guest relationships."
To meet Visa's new validation guidelines, PAR Springer-Miller employed an independent, Visa-qualified security assessor to perform a thorough inspection of SMS Host's payment processing environment. The audit included an intensive review of the process by which sensitive information is classified, accessed and stored, an analysis of network and system architecture, a complete assessment of IT policies and procedures, documentation and employee interviews.
PAR Springer-Miller's SMS Host is one of only a very small number of property management systems to receive PABP validation.
