Panasonic Unveils New Displays and Integrated IPTV Tuner Card for Hospitality Industry

Panasonic Professional Display Company, a unit of Panasonic Corporation of North America and an industry leader in professional Plasma displays, announces the debut of two innovative product lines designed specifically to serve the hospitality industry — the PRT/LRT series of professional displays and the IMP-2000 and DTB-2000, the first integrated HD IPTV tuner solution.

Enhancing the overall guest experience, the high-performance PRT plasma displays and LRT LCD displays offer superior image quality, unparalleled color reproduction, fast-motion response time and fully integrated stereo speakers for superb audio reproduction. The series includes a dynamic, 42-inch Plasma, a 32-inch LCD and a new 37-inch LCD — all of which are highlighted by a sleek, upscale design that complements even the most luxurious settings. The industry-leading 42-inch Plasma display (TH-42PRT12U) features a 30,000:1 contrast ratio; 100,000 hours of service life; and 5,120 shades of gradation, providing brighter, more vivid colors than traditional displays. The 37- and 32-inch LCDs (TH-37LRT12U and TH-32LRT12U) feature up to a 2,500:1 contrast ratio with superb motion handling, and both the Plasma and LCD displays feature-flexible, customizable plug-in slots to accommodate a variety of PPV and other services.

IPTV tuners
Delivering the hospitality industry's first integrated IPTV tuners, the new IMP-2000 plug-in board and DTB-2000 integrated board are designed to work seamlessly with the latest Panasonic displays. The new boards allow hotel guests enjoy to HD IPTV content, while enabling enhanced, in-room capabilities, including the remote automation of lighting, drapery and HVAC systems (in equipped hotels), as well as other hotel services.

Both boards integrate with most of Panasonic's Pro-11 and -12 series displays for a complete IPTV solution that eliminates the need for the cost-prohibitive external technology normally required to link guest room functions with hotel services. Panasonic's industry-exclusive internal boards need no external cable boxes, mounting brackets or extra cables — allowing the display to be mounted closer to the wall for a more streamlined, high-end appearance. The IMP-2000 and DTB-2000 are available as pure IP or as a hybrid (IP/RF), which offers a tri-band tuner and Pro:Idiom decryption. Both boards are compatible with solutions by most major IP providers such as Guest-Tek and Hospitality Network and will be available in summer 2009.

The DTB-1510 HDTV Tuner Board with MPEG4 support and Pro:Idiom decryption is also available.
