Fingerprint Recognition Comes to Sports Bar

Smooth's Sports Grille, an upscale sports bar and restaurant located in Long Beach, Calif., has deployed point-of-sale (POS) terminals with integrated fingerprint recognition from NCR Corporation. The solution includes NCR RealPOS 70 terminals running Digital Dining software from Menusoft Systems Corporation.

The integrated fingerprint readers on the NCR terminals are used by Smooth's for employee login and logout. Their aim is to help assure the accuracy of time and attendance records. Employees also use the fingerprint reader as they enter orders and other transaction information at the terminal rather than swiping an identification card or entering a password that can be lost or forgotten.
