Westin Tampa Harbour Island Advances Wireless with ExteNet
Some are calling it the “secret enabler” in today’s technology-driven hotel experience—wireless technology. As wireless technology plays an increasingly larger role in hospitality, many large hotel chains are rolling out new tech-driven features like mobile check-in capabilities and offering free Wi-Fi.
Westin Tampa Habour Island hotel is one advancing in wireless capability with ExteNet Systems.
ExteNet's network at the Westin Tampa Harbour Island now supports 2G, 3G and 4G LTE services for AT&T Wireless. The network was designed to ensure multi-carrier and multi-technology support, allowing for additional carriers to be easily added to the network.
Throughout the implementation, ExteNet worked in very close coordination with building management, and integration with the overall venue interior design ensured that the overall aesthetics of the building were maintained.
Orkun Aydin, general manager, Westin Tampa Harbour Island said, “We chose to work with ExteNet because of their technical expertise; we are extremely pleased with their highly responsive and knowledgeable team that helped design and develop the communications network for our guests.”
Other leading hotels such as MGM Resorts, Omni, and Hilton are also working with distributed networking company ExteNet Systems to upgrade and enhance their wireless networks, reportedly to keep the guest experience positive and maintain a competitive advantage; legacy wireless networks simply can't keep up with today's demands.
As wireless technology plays an increasingly larger role in hospitality, user behavior continues to evolve and wireless networks are witnessing exponential growth in mobile data and video traffic, according to ExteNet.
Travelers expect connectivity throughout the hotel, given 55 percent of business travelers connect to hotel Wi-Fi with two devices, according to VoucherCloud.
