WaBa Grill has partnered with The Whizz App. Created by gig workers for gig workers, The Whizz App provides subscribers with a Google-styled map identifying pre-screened locations where drivers are permitted to use the restroom facilities, no purchase necessary.

When Nature Calls...There's An App for That

“With dining rooms closed across the nation, both restaurants and consumers are more reliant on food delivery than ever, so it is not an overstatement to say that we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the gig economy workers that enable delivery as an option for our industry,” said Mark Finnegan, VP Marketing & Technology at WaBa Grill. “When we were approached by The Whizz App team and learned the challenges delivery drivers experience daily, we knew that offering our restroom facilities at the nearly 200 WaBa Grill locations throughout Southern California was the least we could do.”

Users of The Whizz App also receive exclusive digital offers such as 20% off a chicken bowl and drink at WaBa Grill.

The Whizz App, a Black-owned business, is led by co-founders Robert Logan and Keith Crudupt who know all too well the daily hardships experienced on the road. With Keith leading sales and marketing and Robert heading up programming, the friends came together to develop this first-of-its-kind app to bring some peace of mind to their gig community. With the ongoing economic challenges and needs related to the pandemic, the numbers of gig workers and drivers are rapidly expanding. On top of the physical challenges of working out of their cars daily, most drivers are working increasingly long hours, often far from home and at an unrelenting pace. Adding to their challenges, drivers are often denied access to restrooms leading to a growing indignity of having to find relief in parks, alleys, and even containers they carry around in their own vehicles.

“We are incredibly grateful to WaBa Grill for believing in our mission and taking a chance with us as our first brand partner,” said Logan. Crudupt added, “The Whizz App was born as a result of uncomfortable situations experienced by myself and my fellow gig workers, and it is our goal to minimize these unfortunate circumstances with the help of brands like WaBa Grill by creating a mutually beneficial experience.”

Users of The Whizz App must display a designated screen on their mobile device to be granted restroom access at any WaBa Grill. Subscribers may also access exclusive digital coupons through the app. The Whizz App is available via download on Apple IOS and Android devices.
