Togo's Eateries Improve Security and Accountability with Fingerprint Readers

6/17/2015
Togo’s Eateries, Inc, a San Jose, CA based fast casual sandwich chain, has deployed U.are.U® 4500 fingerprint readers from Crossmatch to increase security, improve accountability and reduce fraud at the Point-of-Sale (POS).  The Crossmatch fingerprint readers enable instant, non-repudiable identity confirmation for employee sign in and transaction authorization. This distinctive level of accountability becomes the deterrent to fraud and theft.

Prior to biometrics, Togo’s POS system required employees to enter a password to sign in or authorize an override.  However, management found it challenging to track access to the cash drawer because passwords can be shared.  Today, more than 1,000 Togo’s employees use U.are.U 4500 USB fingerprint readers for simplified sign in.  Fingerprint templates replace the need to enter a password, resulting in a unique and auditable identity for each transaction.

“The Crossmatch biometrics solution has allowed us to easily move to single-drawer accountability at the POS,” said Mike Pennington, technology integration manager at Togo’s. “Our associates sign in quickly and know that no one else can access their cash drawer.”

The Crossmatch fingerprint readers are exceeding expectations at all levels for this restaurant chain.  Franchisees like it because it enables auditable POS terminal access, transaction logs and time clock functions.   Additionally, Togo’s took advantage of the fact that their POS software was already enabled to support the Crossmatch U.are.U biometric fingerprint hardware allowing for an easy and seamless integration.
