Tim Hortons Adopts VeriFone V 570 in U.S. Properties
Tim Hortons, Canada's largest quick service restaurant chain, deploys VeriFone payment solutions at countertop checkout stations and drive-thru lanes in U.S. locations. Tim Hortons last year deployed 7,500 VeriFone V 570 systems with EMV-ready VeriFone SC 5000 PINpads throughout store locations in Canada.
Tim Hortons initiated the electronic payment transformation to enable credit card and contactless payments and to convert from paper-based gift certificates to its QuickPay Tim Card.
"Our customers are increasingly reliant on payment cards for everyday purchases and VeriFone's payment solutions will enable us to accommodate their preferences with faster payment options," said Chris Laganos, senior vice president, U.S. Operations, Tim Hortons.
The U.S. rollout began Feb. 15, with approximately 1,000 V 570 systems deployed at 375 stores to date; the Canadian deployment throughout more than 2,100 stores began last summer.
The Interac-certified V 570 is PCI PED-approved, has EMV Level 1 and Level 2 Type approval and is RoHS-compliant. The V 570 combines superior speed and power to offer exceptional payment processing, plus increased memory to support a wide range of value-added applications. The SC 5000 packs support for EMV smart card transactions, electronic benefits transfer, and stored value transactions, into a sleek, stylish device that fits comfortably in the palm of the hand.
