Starwood Enters Three-year Locking Agreement with Kaba

2/16/2011
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has signed a three-year locking agreement with Kaba Lodging, provider of Saflok and ILCO electronic locks. The contract extends to Starwood’s owned, managed and franchised properties in North America and other markets. KABA was selected via a competitive RFP bidding process.

“Starwood owned, managed, and franchise properties will enjoy a number of benefits,” says Mark McBeth, vice president of information technology for Starwood. “KABA has designed attractive custom door levers and readers specifically to Starwood’s requirements, and meets our specifications for RFID and on-line locking systems. They are positioned to be compatible with mobile check-in strategies.” The contract covers U.S markets, including Puerto Rico and Guam, as well as Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, and benefits Starwood branded hotels undergoing conversion, renovation, or new construction, including the Element and aloft brands.

KABA’s client support program includes the interactive Saflok and ILCO client websites that provide expanded online services to operators. In addition to KABA’s 24/7 365-day phone support, Starwood franchisees may utilize the sites’ extensive portfolio of training videos, support instruction, and multi-lingual documentation offerings from a secured login page to quickly resolve technical and implementation issues and get professional answers to questions.
