POS Recap: Mobile Payment, Omnichannel Trends and Security Top March Headlines

Having an omnichannel payment strategy is becoming more important for hospitality operators as guests increasingly demand to be able to order and pay when, how and where they want. In March, headlines reflected that trend towards omnichannel offerings as we saw restaurants adding to their ordering and payment options, plus technology suppliers announcing updates and integrations to offer enhancements in mobility and security. Following are a few highlights in the point of sale space from Outback incorporating mobile payment into its new app to Papa Murphy’s revamping its online ordering portal. Blaze Pizza Unveils App for Ordering and Loyalty
Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza, the build-your-own pizza chain, unveiled its new app, featuring loyalty, mobile ordering and mobile pay. Designed and built by Relevant Mobile, the new app is now available for download by Android and iOS users for all 100-plus Blaze Pizza locations throughout the U.S. The app was developed in partnership with NCR Hosted Solutions to ensure seamless integration with Blaze Pizza’s POS system.

Outback Launches App Allowing Guests To Pay From Phone
With the launch of its new mobile app, Outback Steakhouse is offering guests even more control over their dining experience so they can enjoy steak on their own terms. Outback's new app allows guests to join the wait list and check in, receive exclusive offers, and choose how and when they want to pay the bill. This launch is part of Outback's larger digital commitment to improve customer convenience, choice, and control of their dining experience and follows a series of recent innovations that includes a new state-of-the-art website experience that provides easy online ordering and the convenience of getting on the waitlist.

NFC Mobile Payment Users to Reach Nearly 150m Globally in 2016
A new study from Juniper Research has found that the number of consumers making contactless payments via their mobile handsets will reach 148 million this year, with Apple and Samsung together accounting for nearly 70% of new customers.

Combined with a new ecommerce platform, the revamped website features the benefits of the in-store experience, allowing customers to create their own fresh pizza online and the convenience to then pick up their order in-store when they want. The improved online ordering platform, which is expected to create new sales opportunities, will be available for all Papa Murphy’s locations nationwide in 2016.

Solution Offers Secure Integration of Payment in Mobile Apps and Websites
MyCheck has announced a new innovative fintech product called the MyWallet SDK, that allows developers to enable the secure and convenient management of multiple payment methods and across various native app and website platforms with a single integration. The MyWallet SDK supports native apps for iOS and Android and HTML websites and allows for the storage of a wide range of payment methods including ApplePay, PayPal, MasterPass, Visa Checkout, American Express Checkout; as well as traditional credit cards, debit cards, and pre-paid cards.

Future POS, Inc. has partnered with Vantiv Integrated Payments, a provider of payments technology and services for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), to introduce a comprehensive fully-integrated EMV processing solution for the United States market.
