Orderman and Payworks to Build First Mobile Chip & PIN Solution for Ordering Terminals

10/21/2013
Payworks, a provider of a mobile Point of Sale processing platform, has announced their partnership with Orderman, provider of technology solutions for the European hospitality industry, to build one of the first Chip & PIN solutions for mobile ordering terminals. Orderman integrates the payworks mPOS SDK into their ordering and billing systems, enabling their merchants to accept payments with low cost and pocket size Chip & PIN devices. The combined solution will be presented at IGEHO, one of the largest exhibitions for the hotel sector, taking place in Basel/Switzerland from 23rd to 27th of November 2013.

Orderman, a leading specialist for ordering and billing systems in the restaurant and hospitality business relies on payworks technology to prepare their products for the growing demand of mobile POS solutions. Within the scope of the project, Orderman integrates the payworks mPOS SDK (mobile Point of Sale Software Development Kit) into their products. The implementation enables merchants using Orderman terminals to equip their staff with a fully certified, low cost credit card terminal, which they can carry around in their pockets, reducing checkout time significantly and enhancing the interaction with their guests. Prior the now introduced solution, the staff had to get a wireless terminal from the sales counter each time a customer wanted to pay by card. All payment traffic is securely tunneled through the Orderman Secure Radio (OSR) protocol increasing the range and efficiency of the solution, without compromising security.

The collaboration is an important step for both companies to make mobile POS technology available to the masses. Orderman is currently providing 70.000 mobile ordering devices to more than 35.000 merchants across 45 different countries. Their devices are used both in the gastronomy and retail business by merchants such as Vapiano, Fastorder and Valor.

By working with payworks as the technology provider, Orderman profits from the possibility to build a variety of different mobile POS solutions on top of payworks development interfaces.

For payworks, the collaboration with Orderman comes just after the company has secured another financing round in September. Among key executives in Europe's payment and commerce space, the round was joined by SpeedInvest, a Vienna based Super Angel Fund. In a previous round payworks has raised Seed financing from Barikuta Partners in early 2012.
