MGM Resorts Standardizes on MICROS OPERA
MGM Resorts International has implemented MICROS’s OPERA Enterprise Solutions in 14 of its properties. This marks a standardization of its property management and a central reservation solution on MICROS OPERA at all of the company’s leading properties. The just-completed implementations of OPERA at Luxor, Excalibur, and Mandalay Bay came after the deployment of OPERA at Monte Carlo and Gold Strike Tunica earlier in 2011. The three south Strip properties, which collectively have over 12,000 rooms and suites, utilize OPERA PMS, OPERA Reservation System, OPERA Gaming, OPERA Web Suite, GDS, and ADS with various interfaces.
“Moving to a standardized property management system in combination with a centralized MGM Resorts reservation database that covers 44,172 rooms, is a major milestone on our roadmap to improve efficiencies across sister properties, reduce training time, and provide a technology foundation to further enhance M life, our groundbreaking, market changing customer reward program,” stated Aldo Manzini, Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) MGM Resorts International.
With the implementation, MGM Resorts how has single image inventory from the main property management system through the various channels (central, property, web, GDS). This standardization was particularly important to the implementation at the two CityCenter properties, as it proved to be easy to use and simple to learn for the approximately 1,500 new employees at the two hotels who were trained on the system.
MGM Grand Las Vegas is the largest single-site OPERA installation worldwide with 5,044 rooms. With the conversion of these properties, OPERA now powers 7 of the 10 largest hotels in the United States.
