Marriott Recognized for its Group Pricing Optimizer
International Data Group's (IDG) CIO Magazine has announced that Marriott International, Inc. is a recipient of the 2009 CIO 100 Award for the tenth time. The 22nd annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. Marriott is the only hospitality company honored this year.
Marriott was recognized for The Group Pricing Optimizer (GPO), a web-based application that maximizes revenue and profitability by improving how it prices, sells and services group business. Integrated with the sales, catering and reservations systems, GPO also makes information available across many hotels so one sales manager can serve the needs of an individual customer and quote group rates for multiple hotels with confidence.
"Our ability to pair the science and technology that dynamically provides Marriott's sales force and Marriott.com with group rates that are based on daily market conditions sets us apart from the competition," says Carl Wilson, executive vice president and CIO. "We are honored that our efforts have been recognized by CIO Magazine."
