Yotel New York Gets RFID Locks from Kaba

11/8/2011
KABA, the provider of Saflok and ILCO electronic locks and access control systems, recently completed its fourth YOTEL installation at the YOTEL New York. The recent installation follows successes at YOTEL Gatwick, Heathrow and Schiphol airports in Europe.

KABA installed its contactless ILCO 790 RFID electronic door locks for all 669 guest rooms supported by the ATLAS front desk access control management system.

Positioned in Times Square West, YOTEL New York is the first non-airport location and the first YOTEL outside of Europe.  Furthermore, YOTEL New York is the largest new hotel to open in the city for the past 10 years.

Nigel Buchanan, YOTEL’s operations director said, “KABA was specified for this project because the ILCO 790 RFID system is simple and efficient to both install and manage.”

Buchanan also chose KABA’s ATLAS system to manage the hotel door locks.  ATLAS is fully integrated with the hotel’s property management software to provide greater property security and guest door control across the entire hotel.

KABA’s ATLAS system provides a web-based interface that enables simplified guest door programming. Menu-driven software provides on-screen help, so operators can resolve issues quickly.

It also offers the flexibility for operators to work in the language of their choice.  In the YOTEL’s lobby, self-service ‘Shere’ kiosks dispense guest room keycards and invoices for check-in or check-out, with property staff on hand to provide 24/7 assistance.
