Wiveton Bell Attributes Restaurant Award Win to Paging System

The Wiveton Bell, situated a stones-throw away from the picturesque North Norfolk coast, is renowned for its fresh, locally-sourced cuisine and its fine wines and ales. Wiveton Bell's WaiterCall system ensures the staff deliver prompt and outstanding customer service too.
WaiterCall, from Call-Systems Technology (CST), is a paging system that allows chefs to quickly and discreetly notify waiting staff that a food order is ready, so that it can be served to the customer immediately and in perfect condition. And if customers are happy, they are more likely to return in the future.

Wiveton Bell's high level of customer service has earned them the prestigious title of, East of England regional winner of The Good Food Guide Readers Restaurant of the Year Award.

"We probably wouldn't have won this award without WaiterCall", says Lee Merritt, manager at the Wiveton Bell. "The pagers enable us to deliver a quicker, more efficient service to our customers, getting food out as soon as it is ready, so that it arrives at the table while it is still hot and fresh."

The Wiveton Bell has seven CST vibrating alert pagers which are worn by the waiters. The waiters names are listed on the control pad, so when food is ready to be served, the chefs simply press the button on the control pad in the kitchen to discreetly alert the waiter that their order is ready for collection. If the waiter is busy, there is an option to •call all', so whoever is free can serve the food to the customer ensuring it still arrives in peak condition.

The result is improved continuity of customer service. "The system is so simple and easy to use, yet makes a massive difference to the staff and to customer service" says Lee Merritt.

The pagers eliminate unnecessary trips to the kitchen to check if the food is ready, enabling staff to spend more time in the restaurant attending to customers. Getting food out promptly means more customers can be served and results in increased in turnover. Wiveton Bell can serve up to 120 covers a service, at its busiest times.

Lee Merritt adds "The pagers are great. Even when staff are looking after customers outside they still work really well, despite being a long way from the kitchen control panel."
