POS Upgrade Helps Revive Bar's Business

5/13/2014
Focus POS, a provider of restaurant point of sale software, donated software solutions to the Wildcatter Saloon in an episode of Spike TV’s Bar Rescue. Formerly known as Bryant’s Ice House, the Wildcatter Saloon in Katy, TX garnered a poor reputation due it its limited menu, uninviting exterior and unruly guests. In the food truck parked on the property, unprepared food was kept frozen, making cooking times longer and food less appetizing. The bar had complaints about long wait times and tickets lined up at the food truck.

Owner Jeff Simon, who left his family accounting business and bought the bar in 2012, struggled with its inability to grow and profit – racking up more than $1 million in debt and losing $6,000 per month.

In addition to the physical makeover, Focus upgraded and reconfigured the bar’s POS operations. With a robust, yet flexible bar management system in place, Wildcatter Saloon was able to easily adjust to the changes in its menu and staff as well as the influx of customers during special events. Focus’ solutions streamlined food preparation to reduce wait times and order congestion at the food truck.

Focus’ software also offers reporting features that allow the bar to make the most of its second chance – Simmons can run detailed sales reports, analyze increases in sales over time, and optimize labor to ensure operations remain profitable.
