Pestana Hotels and Resorts Select MICROS OPERA

Pestana Hotels and Resorts, owned and operated by The Pestana Group, the largest Portuguese tourism and leisure organization, is proud to announce that MICROS Systems, Inc., an information technology solutions provider for the hospitality and retail industries, will commence the next phase of its IT strategy with MICROS-Fidelio Portugal with the implementation of the MICROS OPERA Reservations System (ORS) and OPERA Web Services (OWS).

Once the implementation is complete, the reservation tool on http://www.pestana.com will be powered by MICROS ORS and hosted in a Lisbon Data Center. This OPERA module will provide tight integration with the three regional OPERA Property Management System (PMS) multi-property Data Centers which became operational in 2006 and currently support Pestana's 25 locations. Pestana Porto Santo and Pestana Sao Tome, which opened during 2008, were recently added to this multi-property configuration.

The OPERA Reservation System (ORS) is built around the industry acclaimed Oracle(R) relational database management system. It provides a thin-client capability to run from a centralized data center with extensive search engine and hyperlink capabilities. Unified with the OPERA PMS, ORS offers a single image inventory system. By combining the power of integration with an innovative array of functionality, Pestana Hotels and Resorts reservations agents and global sales staff have the tools to maximize bookings and optimize revenues.

"We are pleased that following the successful implementation of OPERA PMS, The Pestana Group can expand its partnership with MICROS to integrate a centralized reservation solution to manage its prestigious Pestana Hotels and Resorts," says Dr. Jose Theotonio, administrator of the group based in Madeira. "The OPERA Enterprise Solution continues to provide the key technologies we require to continue to provide the superior guest experience for which our hotels are known."
