Major Foodservice Distributors to Provide Electronic Ordering with RTIconnect

Two major foodservice distributors, MBM Food Service and Cheney Brothers, Inc. (CBI), join Restaurant Technology, Inc. (RTI), to provide electronic ordering to restaurants using RTIconnect, RTI's Web-based back office software for restaurants.

The participation of these two distributors allows their clients using RTIconnect to download the distributors' electronic order guides, essentially product catalogs, and transmit their food orders via the Internet. These partner interfaces were added at the request of Arby's and Offerdahl's Cafe Grill restaurants who use RTIconnect to control food costs in their restaurants. RTIconnect now interfaces with 22 major foodservice distributors.

As part of its food cost controls, RTIconnect automatically calculates a suggested food order, taking into consideration all of the factors that influence the ordering decision: forecasted sales, inventory on hand, inventory ordered but not yet delivered, and optional safety factors. The manager can adjust the order if needed, and then send it directly to the distributor through RTIconnect.

Headquartered in Rocky Mount, N.C., MBM is the largest privately-owned custom food service distributor in the country. CBI is headquartered in Riviera Beach, Fl., and is one of the largest food distributors in the South.
