HITEC 2015 NEWS: Onity Introduces Mobile-Key Solution
Onity announced the release of its DirectKey mobile access solution for the hospitality industry. Onity developed this product as a cost-effective, secure and easy-to-use mobile-key solution for hotels of any size. The DirectKey system was officially unveiled at The Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition & Conference (HITEC).
The DirectKey system uses cloud-based key credentialing and Bluetooth® technology, allowing hotel guests to securely download their key to their smartphone through the hotel’s loyalty app for easy access to their assigned room and other access-controlled areas such as parking garages, elevators and fitness centers. The key credentials remain on the phone during their stay, so a network connection is not required to use the mobile key.
With the DirectKey system, hotel IT and brand leaders can customize how mobile-key access integrates into loyalty applications, property management systems, and front-desk processes, so hotels can maintain their brand experience. The DirectKey system uses a door-lock hardware module which employs 128-bit AES encryption technology to complement the security of existing locks.
In addition to enhancing the guest experience, DirectKey also saves time and money for properties, as the technology can be retrofitted to existing locks from Onity. The DirectKey solution leverages a proven technology and key credentialing platform built by Supra, the leading provider of real estate lockboxes, and also part UTC Building & Industrial Systems. The platform currently supports more than 1 million installed Bluetooth locking devices.
