Eatsa Pivots from Retail to Tech Company

11/21/2017

According to Forbes, Eatsa – which recently announced the closing of five of its seven restaurant locations – seems to be morphing from a restaurant chain into a technology company. Wow Bao, a Chicago-based fast-casual restaurant, will be using Eatsa technology as the foundation for an automated dining experience. Consumers will be able to order their food via mobile app or kiosk and will then collect their meal from an LED-lit cubbyhole displaying their name. According to Eatsa, their technology platform enables it to get meals to customers in 90 seconds versus the industry average of five minutes or more.

The first Eatsa-equipped Wow Bao will open in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago on Dec. 1. Using the technology, Wow Bao plans to double its sites in 2018. It currently has seven company-owned locations, plus airport, college campus, hotel and stadium franchises. While Wow Bao is the first deployment, the company suggests more deals are in the pipeline and says to expect to hear and see more in 2018.
