Copley Square Hotel Caps Major Renovation with Wireless Network

Copley Square Hotel, a 143-room landmark hotel located in the heart of Boston's Back Bay, deployes Colubris wireless equipment as part of its recent renovation project. The Copley Square Hotel deployed the Colubris wireless solution through Safety NetAccess, a leading national high-tech solutions company that provides a broad range of technology products and services to its customers.

The Copley Square Hotel is reopening in October after an extensive, multi-million dollar renovation project that upgraded the interior of the building and relaunched the property as a contemporary, four-star boutique hotel with distinctive amenities for business and leisure travelers. As part of the new décor, guest rooms will feature fully stocked workstations with complimentary Wi-Fi access, powered by Colubris.

"With this renovation, we were determined to offer our guests the very latest in terms of luxuries, and that includes providing them with the latest technology to make their travels more comfortable," says Nathan Crisp, director of revenue/technology for the Copley Square Hotel. "With Colubris, we can offer our guests connectivity to the Internet no matter where they are on our property, ensuring that they can always stay connected to their homes and businesses while they're away."
In addition to powering guest access, Colubris will also serve as the wireless platform from which Copley Square Hotel will be able to deploy business applications. For example, the hotel currently has plans to deploy curbside check-in in early 2009, which will allow employees to check-in guests via handheld devices as the guests pull up to the hotel.

With the help of Safety NetAccess, Copley Square Hotel deployed 16 Colubris MultiService Access Points (MAPs) throughout the hotel. Copley Square Hotel is able to set up secure, password-protected guest access through Colubris so that only property guests and meeting attendees are granted online access. Using its rich multiservice feature set, Copley Square Hotel can easily add new business applications as needed, such as curbside check-in, over the wireless network. Because the Colubris solution features an optimized WLAN architecture that eliminates expensive upgrades when migrating to 802.11n, Copley Square's investment is protected.
