As a journalist, I jumped on the generative AI curve a bit earlier than most — I wanted to understand its implications for restaurant and hotel use cases. I quickly learned how much I didn’t know (e.g., critical distinctions among machine learning, AI, and generative AI, and how to tell the difference).
A Crash Course in Generative AI
I was lucky enough to get a crash course in generative AI when Hospitality Technology and EnsembleIQ Research partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to produce the research brief “Exploring Generative AI for Hotels and Restaurants.”
We surveyed executives from restaurant and hotel brands and technology solution providers across the U.S. for a look at the current state of generative artificial intelligence. Our insights include attitudes toward generative AI, adoption strategies and timelines, potential benefits and outcomes, and the top challenges and concerns.
A key finding for me: Less than half (46%) of those surveyed feel that they are well-positioned to successfully implement generative AI solutions. Does that sound familiar? Wherever you are on the AI curve, I heartily recommend you spend some time with our data — and, as always, let me know what you think!
