SiteMinder Acquires Globekey
Cloud platform company SiteMinder acquired Asia-based online reservation systems provider Globekey.
Completed this month, the acquisition significantly increases the direct booking contribution to the SiteMinder business from within Asia, especially in Globekey’s primary markets of Indonesia and Thailand where the majority of Globekey’s 1200 global hotel customers are currently located.
With Globekey’s 15-year track record and loyal customer base, the acquisition is expected to strengthen the company’s presence among hard-to-reach hotel users of Internet booking engines in Asia, according to Mike Ford, co-founder and managing director at SiteMinder.
Globekey commenced operations in 2000 to provide online reservation systems for hotels, apartments, inbound tour operators and travel portal websites. The company has built a major specialist presence in the direct bookings market, offering an Internet booking engine to properties of all sizes across Asia, EMEA and the Americas.
Globekey will continue to operate as its own distinct brand.
