“It wasn’t easy for any business leader to lead during COVID, especially in an industry that was one of the hardest hit. Despite the dire circumstances, I focused my efforts on making my employees feel connected to our company and our customers. I knew that employees who felt cared for could show up to work every day and care for our customers, innovate, and continue to deliver amazing products.”

Hoskins says she’s most proud of her leadership at Upserve in 2020. She is passionate about tech that makes life easier for small- and medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurs, especially since SMB owners are women, minorities and immigrants. “I love that I get to have an impact on creating affordable, reliable technology that can empower their businesses to grow,” she said.

The Future of Restaurant Technology

She is looking forward to seeing more innovations in restaurant technology.  “It’s exciting to see how technology allows guests the ability to engage with restaurants, bars, and cafes during this transitional time in a way that meets their comfort level. I think contactless payments, omnichannel ordering, and guest engagement tools are all going to make big strides this year and post-COVID,” she said.

Reflecting on receiving the Top Women in Restaurant Technology Award, Hoskins says, “Seeing the other women who dominate these lists every year, it’s truly an honor to be in such talented company. Throughout my career I’ve always been inspired by other women who end up on these “top of industry” lists so to be included is truly an exciting milestone. After the year our industry has had, it feels very special to be recognized.”
