Mandarin Oriental, Boston Eliminates Cell Phone Coverage Gaps
The Mandarin Oriental, Boston announces the deployment of ADC's InterReach Fusion in-building cellular system. The system currently provides augmented coverage for T-Mobile customers, although it can also support traffic from additional mobile operators who choose to use it.
One of Boston's premier luxury hotels, Mandarin Oriental, Boston is located on Boylston Street adjacent to The Prudential Center and is a multi-use complex consisting of guest rooms, condominiums and apartments, spa, dining and meeting space facilities.
"Given our location in a dense urban area, we wanted to ensure that our guests and visitors can rely on their cell phones for voice and data coverage," says Colin Merry, director of IT for Mandarin Oriental, Boston. "ADC engineers overcame our coverage challenges and really went the extra mile to give us a reliable, high-performance coverage solution that minimized disruption to hotel operations during deployment."
The InterReach Fusion system installed at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston includes 2 InterReach Fusion Main Hubs, 6 Expansion Hubs, and 38 remote antenna units (RAUs). This system covers the public areas and administrative offices on floors 1-3, plus the guest rooms on floors 4-8. This system is currently fed by an ipAccess 1900MHz picocell base station supplied by T-Mobile. Other carriers are evaluating whether to install base stations for their own signals.
