Live from NRF: How Five-Unit Friendly's Concept Improved Order Accuracy

1/10/2011
Friendly’s Express, a new fast-casual concept of Friendly’s, is using Epson’s TM-T88 ReStick thermal printer with MAXStick liner-free, biodegradable and recyclable labels to identify orders in all five of its locations. By installing an intelligent label interface into the Epson ReStick printer, Friendly’s Express was able to configure its point-of-sale (POS) systems to print individual item labels for only its carryout orders. In addition, Friendly’s Express is using the same solution to print individual order labels for sundaes. After the order is placed at the counter, it is printed and affixed to the sundae container, which greatly increases the efficiency of order preparation and accuracy. The Epson TM-T88 ReStick thermal printer with MAXStick liner-free labels has improved order accuracy dramatically as well as streamlined Friendly’s Express carry out workflow. NETS Products Group is the systems integrator and solution provider for the Friendly’s Express Epson TM-T88 ReStick / MAXStick solution.

“With our Friendly’s Express locations we have introduced our loyal customers to a fast, new way to order their favorite items on the go,” says Richard Delvalle, director of restaurant systems for Friendly’s. “We needed technologies that evolved with us, that would make the food order, preparation and labeling process accurate, quick and easy. The Epson / MAXStick solution is ideally suited to our needs and we are very pleased with the increased order accuracy. It has streamlined our preparation process and allowed us to customize, and ultimately greatly enhance, the way we deliver orders to our customers.”

Using MAXStick liner-free, biodegradable and recyclable labels with the Epson TM-T88 ReStick, Friendly’s Express is able to apply, remove or reposition labels as needed. Since the labels are liner-free, there is no liner backing left behind, which can be a safety hazard and / or clutter up the work space.
