Kiawah Island Golf Resort Gets Multi-Carrier Coverage with ADC

The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resortnear Charleston, South Carolina announces that it is now receiving multi-carrier cellular voice and data services in all guest areas courtesy ofADC's Digivance in-building coverage system (ICS). While local provider SunCom (now part of T-Mobile) had previously deployed an ADC Digivance system for its own customers, the hotel wanted to enable coverage for users of AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon as well. With the expansion of the Digivance system, virtually every guest can make and receive calls.

"We host corporate events for companies all over the world, and we wanted to make sure that every guest would have good mobile reception in their rooms as well as throughout our facilities," says Wayne Koeckeritz, director of engineering for The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. "We had been getting excellent results from the Digivance system for a few years, so our obvious choice was to expand that system to include coverage for all of the other carriers in our area."

The expanded system includes new rooftop masts to capture macro network signals from the major carriers, new Digivance ICS Host Units and Expansion Units in the hotel's equipment room and some 45 Digital Remote Units (DRUs) with ceiling- and wall-mounted antennas throughout the hotel. The expansion took place over a 90-day period and services went live earlier this year.
