Hyatt Partners with Ecova to Provide Comprehensive Energy Management Services

Ecova, an energy and sustainability management company, was selected by Hyatt Corporation to provide comprehensive energy management services for the company’s new headquarters that opened in August 2017. Hyatt has also renewed its existing contract with Ecova to continue delivering intelligent energy management strategy options/recommendations for hotels within its select service portfolio.

Ecova understands that many businesses, particularly those in the hospitality industry with hundreds of sites, are challenged to identify trends for energy, water, waste, and telecommunications expenses. Ecova maintains the largest database of utility data for the hospitality market, which drives robust benchmarking for organizations. In concert with Ecova, Hyatt leverages this global data to compare multiple sites and drive significant efficiencies across its portfolio.

Similar to the services delivered under the prior relationship, Ecova provides Hyatt’s corporate headquarters with several energy and expense management services, including utility bill processing, site specific utility service management, and monitoring monthly financial information to help optimize budgets. Hyatt can access these analyses through Ecova’s Energy and Sustainability Management Platform, a single intuitive source of data and insights that will assist in setting companywide benchmarks, identify performance outliers, and prioritize facility improvements. So far, Ecova has helped Hyatt avoid significant costs through negotiated deregulated utility rate savings and analytics.

Hyatt’s relocation of its global headquarters to a state-of-the-art facility in Chicago brings together approximately 1,000 employees previously based in two buildings. The new facility at 150 N. Riverside Plaza is a 53-story, 1.2 million-square-foot office tower located in the West Loop along the Chicago River. Ecova helped Hyatt manage the transition with its utility vendors, providing energy supply negotiations and ensuring utility billing remained accurate throughout the move.

“In working with Ecova, we’re creating a more energy efficient, sustainable environment to contribute to a greener Chicago and in the communities where we do business worldwide,” said Ted Lorenzi, director of facilities, Hyatt. “Sustainability is a priority around the globe, which is why we are continuing to use Ecova’s technology platform and services to better manage our utility and energy spend across our portfolio.”
