How Benchmark Provides Travel Confidence to Conference Guests

2/4/2011
Two of Benchmark Hospitality International properties are now offering real-time airline flight information displays and boarding pass printing to help keep guests’ assured of their travel schedule.

“Providing real-time airline information to our guests is not an amenity, it is a necessity,” says David Kohlasch, general manager of Lansdowne Resort in Virginia. “We installed digital flight information displays from Flyte Systems and FlytePass boarding pass printing. Our guests, most of which are practiced business travelers, value it because this gives them confidence in their travel plans. It makes their life easier and takes a load off our staff. When travelers are confident of their airline schedule they can relax.” Lansdowne, with 296-rooms, offers 50,000 square feet of professional high-tech meeting space just eight miles from Dulles International Airport.

Benchmark’s Eaglewood Resort & Spa, close to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and Midway Airport also provides guests with airport flight information. “A significant number of our guests fly in, and the FlyteBoard airport flight schedule display and FlytePass boarding pass printing are services that are helpful for their travel plans,” says Charles H. D. Reece, CRDE, general manager of Benchmark’s Eaglewood Resort & Spa. “We are continually impressed by how many people use the services to check flights at O’Hare and Midway and print boarding passes to save time at the airport. The service is particularly valuable during the winter weather.”

Eaglewood’s Flyte Systems displays are located outside the Technology Center near the property’s large conference facilities where attendees can quickly check their flight status or print boarding passes. Reece notes that when flights are delayed, guests often extend their stay or dine on property, enhancing his ROI by utilizing the resort’s food and beverage outlets.

Darrin Pinkham, Benchmark’s vice president of information technology recently had an opportunity to evaluate the property’s real-time airline flight information system himself. “I was at Lansdowne on business last month when a major storm delayed a number of flights at Dulles,” Pinkham recalls. “I joined the other guests at the FlyteBoard confirming when our flights were rescheduled. I know for myself the service really helps guests with their travel plans.”

Real-time flight information
Flyte Systems is a provider of airport travel information displays and digital signage content for the hospitality industry, digital signage, convention centers and related businesses. What sets Flyte Systems apart from PC-based applications is the ability to post real-time airline flight arrival and departure information, not FAA-regulated scheduled departure times that do not list delays caused by air traffic control, aircraft maintenance, crew availability and weather.
Flyte Systems offers a suite of products that serve the traveling public: FlyteBoard, FlytePass, FlyteChannel and FlyteTouch.
  • FlyteBoard is a wall, floor or ceiling mounted high-definition, flat panel screen for lobbies, restaurants, bars and other public areas, displaying flight information for one or more airports.
  • FlytePass combines FlyteTouch with free, secure boarding pass printing and can be provided stand alone or neatly packaged in an optional all wood kiosk or integrated metal kiosk, to match your dÉcor.
  • FlyteChannel permits guests to view live airport flight information conveniently and comfortably from their in-room television.
  • FlyteTouch enables individual guests to search flight information using an interactive touch screen that displays real-time flight arrivals and departures for one or more airports.
