Grand Sierra Resort and Casino Installs dormakaba BLE Enabled RFID Electronic Locks

dormakaba, the provider of secure Saflok™ and Ilco™ electronic door locks, announced Grand Sierra Resort and Casino successfully upgraded its magstripe guestroom door locks to dormakaba’s secure MT BLE-enabled RFID locks. A team of dormakaba-certified installers converted more than 2,000 magstripe guestroom door locks to RFID in less than a month.

dormakaba is a total solutions provider for the hospitality industry and one of the top three companies in the global market for access and security solutions. Grand Sierra Resort (GSR), located in the Reno -Tahoe area, is an all-encompassing resort with 2,000 luxurious guest rooms and suites and over 200,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

“We upgraded all guestrooms to dormakaba’s latest Saflok MT RFID electronic door locks. The new locks work great. Guests love them and our front office team values their reliability,” said Kent Vaughan, senior VP of Hotel Operations for Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. “RFID locks are smart, secure, and more reliable than magstripe units because RFID key codes cannot be erased by contact with a guest’s cell phone. The Grand Sierra expects to upgrade to dormakaba’s Ambiance lock management system in the future.”

A seven-member dormakaba-certified installation team upgraded Grand Sierra’s 2,000+ guestroom doors to RFID locks in about two months. The team easily converted both occupied and vacant rooms to the new units.

Grand Sierra’s MT RFID locks are equipped with contactless and mobile access technology that enhances the guest convenience and improves operational efficiency. It is ideal for retrofits and works with dormakaba’s new Ambiance Access Management Software.

Ambiance is an ideal solution to manage dormakaba’s family of advanced locking systems. The system puts operators in full control of property entry and egress areas by specifying time sensitive access permissions. The MT is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) capable lock that can operate using dormakaba’s Mobile Access Solutions that lets guests use their mobile devices as their room key.
