Disney Files for VR Technology Patent

Disney has filed for a patent that would protect the theme park's moving floor technology.

According to Walt Disney World News Today, the patent has three different solutions for creating the sensation of walking. The solutions include vibration technology that allow the platform to influence the direction of the user, rotating disks on the floor, and a solution that uses magnets on a treadmill and on the user's shoes to simulate walking.

Disney was granted 195 patents by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2016, placing the company 176th overall in terms of patent grants earned that year, reports BlooLoop

Disney is among the theme parks getting more into VR gaming experiences such as The Void and is expected to debut its first VR short film, Cycles, later this month.
