Bidroom Makes Travel Sustainable for Guests and Hoteliers

Bidroom, a travel-tech company, introduced an ‘eco-certified’ label for hotels on its subscription-based marketplace. These properties have been recognized by independent bodies for their work in environmental protection and sustainable practices. 

Hotels that love the planet

In April 2020 Bidroom partnered with the Green Key Award, a voluntary eco-label operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education that has been awarded to over 3,200 hotels in 65 countries. Since then, Bidroom has established further partnerships with leading eco-labels from the EU CommissionGreen Globe and EarthCheck.

Since last September, Bidroom members are able to easily find hotels that have been awarded one of these eco-labels through their new ‘eco-certified’ designation. This will appear under each property description and during a search on the Bidroom platform. Accommodations that achieve this certification need to meet rigorous standards, including reduction of CO2 emissions, energy usage and water usage, proper waste management, conscious use pesticides, and promotion of sustainable services and food. 

Choosing to travel sustainably

This announcement is a natural evolution for the brand who have built their business with the sustainability of the travel industry at its heart. Bidroom treats hoteliers fairly and transparently and does not charge commission. This in turn gives hospitality operators greater control over their brand and revenue. 

Bidroom has also been a long-time collaborator with climate tech company CHOOOSE, which enables guests to calculate and offset the carbon footprint of their travel.
