Uber Eats Sinks its Teeth Into Food Delivery with Ando Acquisition

Uber Eats has acquired Ando, the New York City restaurant startup launched less than two years ago by Momofuku boss David Chang as a delivery-only establishment but opened a physical location last fall.

Several news reports are reporting that Uber Eats has acquired Ando, the New York City restaurant startup launched less than two years ago by Momofuku boss David Chang as a delivery-only establishment but opened a physical location last fall. Uber's CEO Dara Khosrowshahi told an audience in Munich that the company intends to the world's biggest food delivery provider by year's end. A statement on Ando's website says the startup is being integrated into Uber Eats' operations. Uber likely is using Ando's data to learn more about customer preferences.

Ando was unique in that it offered full-service options to customers, preparing and delivering food itself instead of relying on a third party.
