Mobi Munch Outfits Mobile Eateries with Panasonic Lite-Ray POS Workstations

Across the country, mobile food trucks run by innovative chefs are one of the hottest new trends in the food service industry. Los Angeles-based Mobi Munch is catering to the demand with state-of-the-art fully equipped vehicles, outfitted with Panasonic's revolutionary Lite-ray POS (Point of Sale) Workstations.

According to Josh Tang, co-founder and CEO of Mobi Munch, Inc., Mobi Munch will act as a springboard for fresh mobile restaurant concepts and offer a complete turnkey business structure that enables chefs to bring their culinary creations directly to the public, while allowing their own focus to remain squarely on the food.

In equipping their first mobile restaurant, the LudoBites Truck featuring gourmet fare from Chef Ludo Lefebvre, Tang's discerning best-in-class standards were applied to the company's selection of a POS workstation. He chose Panasonic Lite-ray, but not before giving it a thorough evaluation.

He says, "Even though the Panasonic Lite-ray was recommended to us, we still went ahead with an evaluation based on features, warranty and price. We also did the same evaluation with another brand. In the end, it was an easy decision to make because Lite-ray really was the perfect solution."

In addition to features, warranty and price, the Lite-ray's small footprint solved the problem of fitting a POS workstation into a very small space. Featuring an all-in-one design with a 15" dual backlight, high resolution/high contrast anti-glare LCD, Lite-ray uses very little counter space in the truck and its resistive touch screen capability can even accommodate users wearing gloves.

Lite-ray's open platform accommodates almost any POS software application, an important feature that supports Mobi Munch's ability to custom tailor their own designs. Also important in a mobile restaurant application, its Intel Atom Processor is purpose-built and power-optimized to deliver more robust performance per watt and is Energy Star qualified. Lite-ray supports Microsoft Windows, including both standard and embedded platforms along with Linux.

Other key factors in Mobi Munch's decision-making process are the three-year warranty on Lite-ray and its reputation for durability and reliability to withstand spills, static, dust, dirt, shock, grease, extreme temperatures and humidity even in a severe mobile environment.

"The Lite-ray workstation offered everything we needed and more," adds Tang. "With Lite-ray, owners and chefs can focus on the food because the business technology side is covered."

The design and implementation of the Lite-ray workstation was performed by POS Technical Services Inc. of Los Angeles, within the confines of a mobile restaurant truck manufactured by AA Cater Truck, Inc., also of Los Angeles.
