MGM Resorts Uses Expedia Powered Technology for Las Vegas Package Bookings

MGM Resorts International is using Expedia Powered Technology as the backend technology solution for its package booking platform. The deal utilizes Expedia Group’s technology and provides MGM Resorts with access to Expedia Group’s more than 550 airline relationships. The new relationship creates an opportunity for MGM Resorts’ properties to leverage the strength of package bookings, which represent nearly one-quarter of Expedia Group’s booking to Las Vegas.

"We have long seen Expedia Group as a strategic channel for customer acquisition, and adding their technology and partner breadth in package bookings to our websites is just one more way we’re seeing partner value from them," said Michael Dominguez, senior vice president and chief sales officer. "Las Vegas is one of the top markets for travelers booking packages, so we’re adding strength to our customer offering and reach by leveraging Expedia Powered Technology.”

Compared to standalone hotel bookers, Expedia Group package bookers typically book more than two-times further out, stay two-times longer, and have one-third the cancellation rate, which make package customers a valuable channel for hotels.

Package bookings are a way for hotels to take advantage of an incremental booking channel that provides a lot of benefits– from longer stays to fewer cancellations.

Hotel partners can learn more about Expedia Powered Technology and Package Bookings on the Discover EPC blog.
