After living in a floating home in Toronto from three-and-a-half years, Grant Romundt, co-founder of Ocean Builders, discovered a new passion and a new calling. He moved out of that home and down to Panama to start Ocean Builders with his co-Founder Rüdiger Koch. Romundt and Kock are working to build eco-restorative homes, or SeaPods, that are meant to float a few kilometers off the coast (and seven-and-a-half feet above the waves) while providing individuals with 830 square feet of living space proportioned over two-and-a-half floors.

During his session at HT-NEXT 2022, Romundt will discuss his vision for these homes, the process that has gone into building them, the technology that powers them, and why he thinks they’ll change the way we live and travel in the near future. This is a session you don’t want to miss, so register today! (And don’t forget to check out our other amazing educational sessions!)

Romundt has a talent for spotting innovative technology and figuring out ways to use it to make life better. He has been an early adopter across many fields. He was the first and youngest to write a software program in Canada and compete in a science fair in 1980 at the age of 8, he had the most advanced mobile paperless office in Canada in 1995 including being the first to use VoIP technology in Canada, and he lived in a tech “frat-house” in San Francisco with one of the 6 co-founders of PayPal. Today he owns several businesses specializing in software development, video production, education, sales, and training. His customers include billion-dollar multinational companies like Wella Professionals, OPI, Clairol, Nioxin, Sebastian, L’Oreal Professional, and many others.
