AVI Foodsystems Rolls Out PCI-Validated P2PE Solution

Payment security provider Bluefin Payment Systems released a case study with AVI Foodsystems, food and hospitality provider, on AVI’s implementation of Bluefin’s PCI-validated Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) solution for AVI’s back-office payments.

Founded in 1960, AVI Foodsystems has evolved into one of the most respected and trusted food service companies in the nation. AVI serves thousands of clients and millions of customers daily through the company’s contemporary cafés, state-of-the-art vending programs, innovative micro markets, premier catering services, superior concession venues and exclusive beverage and coffee systems.

AVI was seeking a PCI-validated P2PE solution for their client locations across the U.S. that provided the highest level of payment encryption but they also wanted to attain PCI network scope reduction without the need for AVI to re-certify the solution each year.

The scope reduction would remove client’s data networks from the PCI audit process, avoiding the unmanageable costs and unreasonable levels of risk for AVI’s clients to be involved in the company’s annual PCI audit. Second, P2PE solutions also significantly reduce the risk of a breach involving customers’ credit card data by eliminating the storage and transfer of decipherable card holder data. Extending P2PE into AVI’s card not present environment presented a very clear cost, time and risk savings opportunity for the company.

Through AVI’s payment processing partner, Nodus Technologies, AVI implemented Bluefin’s PCI-validated P2PE solution for their back-office payments. In 2017, Nodus, a leading provider of electronic payment, eCommerce, and accounts receivable automation software for small and mid-size companies, partnered with Bluefin for Decryptx®, Bluefin’s Decryption as a Service (DaaS) product, which enables payment gateways, processors and ISV’s to provide Bluefin’s PCI-validated P2PE solution directly through their platform.

The AVI Foodsystems case study is available for download on the Bluefin website.
