What were the highlights at MURTEC 2023: All In for you and your brand?
MURTEC underscored how technology is disrupting the restaurant space and opening the door to exciting innovations. Restaurants are exploring the value of creating experiences in the metaverse, using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to automate drive-thru ordering, using computer vision to increase back-of-house efficiency, and deploying “pizza robots.” These innovations complemented the keynote from Flourish Labs CEO Obi Felten, who encouraged restaurateurs to apply “moonshot thinking” to their challenges, including trying new things, working as a team, and clearly identifying an objective and staying focused on the goal throughout problem-solving.
What did you learn from MURTEC networking and educational sessions?
The COVID-19 pandemic hit the restaurant industry hard. However, as Wade Allen, SVP and Chief Digital Officer of Brinker International, pointed out, it forced restaurant operators to turn to technologies and new business models and learn what works. Many restaurants are now better positioned for success because they’ve refined their processes, automated where they could, and improved experiences for their guests and their team members. Presentations and conversations also confirmed that restaurateurs understand how point of sale (POS) solutions have evolved and can be a part of a strategy to transform restaurant operations.
What solutions did you present to the MURTEC community?
Ingenico featured AXIUM products, which bring the potential of Android to payments and customer engagement throughout the restaurant. AXIUM terminals accept the payment methods consumers prefer, from EMV credit and debit cards to contactless cards and mobile wallets. Additionally, AXIUM smart POS terminals enhance commerce for merchants of all sizes, offering restaurants a broad range of integrations via API to expand terminal functionality. AXIUM’s flexibility creates optimal customer experiences at the front counter, at the table, at the drive-thru, and even curbside. Moreover, restaurants can choose the Terminal as a Service (TaaS) option, a managed service that ensures all AXIUM devices are always operational and compliant with standards and regulations.
