Garrido, senior vice president, information technology, Thayer Lodging / Brookfield Hotel Properties, David Heckaman, vice president, technology, Mandarin Oriental, and Sukhvinder Singh, senior vice president, information technology, Host Hotels & Resorts. The session will be moderated by Martin Thornros, principal (CEO,CFO,CMO,COO), Convergent Services.
Garrido is a Hospitality professional that has been in hospitality for over 18 years working at various positions in hotel operations and Information Technology. Garrido also participates in industry board committees as member of the AH&LA Technology and E-Business Committee, Marriott Franchise IT Board, and Starwood Hotels Franchise IT Board. Nelson is also an active member with Hospitality Financial Technology professionals and the Hotel Technology Next Generation.
Heckaman has been with Mandarin Oriental Hotel for more than 15 years. He joined it in 2001 to lead the technology development aspect of their North American flagship property in New York City. In 2005 he became vice president of technology. In this role he oversees new hotel development, new technology direction and physical infrastructures. Heckaman also is the Principal Consultant of Heckaman Group, LLC which is a consulting company created to provide technology guidance, project review and vision clarity to technology vendors as well as lodging operators.
Singh is responsible for defining the corporate position regarding the resources and investments being made in all application systems and the technology infrastructure, ensuring alignment of technology investments to the business for Host Hotels & Resorts. In addition, Sukhvinder works collaboratively with the company's asset management team, property general managers and hotel brands to evaluate new hotel technologies and business applications.
Thornros started his IT career over 25 years ago, while in graduate school (MBA from USF). Martin and an IT pioneer, who developed an early PBX-VMS interface, created a partnership that developed through several iteration to become one of the largest Hospitality dedicated interconnects in the US (InnTel Communication, later Contact LLC). Hi main focus shifted as the company grew; from sales and technical engineering to strategic development and growth. Now, for more than 12 years, Convergent Services has provided consulting for individual hotels as well as hotel groups developing IT systems and strategies.
