Hawaiian Tropic Zone Delivers Larger Than Life Entertainment Solution
To launch a new restaurant and bar in Las Vegas, entrepreneurs must serve up more than just great food and drinks. That's why when the Hawaiian Tropic Zone Restaurant, Bar & Lounge decided to open up its second location, at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood Hotel, management sought for an entertainment solution that would provide customers with a unique atmosphere.
To reach its goal, management turned to USCommunications, which provides custom audio and video installations for its business clientele, to install a plasma video wall above the restaurant's bar and behind its catwalk, the center stage for a nightly show featuring its trademark Hawaiian Tropic Zone models. The plasma screens would be used to display background scenes during the shows and promote upcoming events via digital advertising before and after the shows.
The search begins
To complete its task, the restaurant needed 36 63-inch plasma monitors. In order to meet restaurant management's expectations, USCommunications sought for a solution that had exceptional picture quality, eye-pleasing aesthetics, reliability and flexibility. After comparing several top manufacturers management decided to use the Samsung PPM63M6H 63-inch High Definition Plasma Monitors.
Samsung, which also has monitors installed at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone Restaurant, Bar & Lounge's New York location, was a logical choice, according to management. The monitor's size was also extremely important, since the video wall had to be large and extremely dramatic, Rosstad notes. Samsung's plasma fit the bill, thanks to its 63-inch screen and 180-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles, which ensure that customers from anywhere in the bar have a great view of the video wall.
While Hawaiian Tropic Zone's plasma wall had to be massive, it still needed to deliver a quality picture. Samsung's high definition monitor features a 1366 x 768 native resolution, a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,300 nits of brightness and 549.8 billion colors, all of which are helpful for seeing crisp and clear images in low lights and from a variety of distances. Using its exclusive Digital Natural Image enhancement (DNIe) technology, the plasmas also provide optimized motion display in stunning detail.
Reliability is a must
Initially, one of management's main concerns was finding a reliable product, as the plasma wall displays images for almost 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Samsung's monitors are up to the challenge due to their 60,000 hour lifespan and a two-year onsite guarantee.
The Samsung monitors also provide six types of anti burn-in protection. Users simply select a protection mode, period and operation time to ensure that the plasmas are kept safe from any permanent damage.
To create the most dramatic impact using the plasma wall, it was also essential that the monitors selected could be connected electronically with ease. Samsung's 63-inch plasma monitors have built-in video wall processors, as well as complex input/output capabilities to meet that exact need.
In total, 36 of Samsung's 63-inch monitors were installed at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone, making it roughly 12 feet tall by 60 feet wide.
