Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel Launches Mobile Key in the Marriott Mobile App

7/17/2017
The Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel announced it is the first Renaissance property in North America to implement state-of-the-art technology allowing guests to use their smartphones as room keys. The hotel launched the Mobile Key feature as part of the Marriott Mobile App on July 1.

Working in tandem with the app’s Mobile Check-in feature, which is broadly available at Marriott properties worldwide, guests who have an IOS operating smartphone can skip the front desk and go immediately to their room, using their smartphone to open the door. Giving guests the option to skip the front desk at check-in will save time for both business travelers and tourists alike. Mobile Key will be available to Marriott Rewards members who book direct on Marriott channels.

“As the flagship of the Renaissance brand, we are proud to be the first hotel to offer this technology to our guests,” said General Manager David DiFalco. “This property is known for our digital capabilities and the new Mobile Key feature as part of the Marriott Mobile App will only enhance the experience of Marriott Rewards members.”

The app is easy to use and only requires a few simple steps. The guest completes mobile check-in and submits their arrival time. On the day of their arrival, they receive an alert as soon as the room is ready, and to enter the room, guests will simply tap their smartphone against the electronic lock and access is granted. Mobile Key not only offers guests a complete mobile check-in experience, but also allows the hotel to personalize the stay based on guest preferences.

The Renaissance NY Midtown has been ahead of the technology game ever since its opening in 2016. It is the first multi-sensory, interactive “living” hotel in New York, with corridors that come alive with human interaction and digital artwork that changes on every visit. Created by the award-winning digital design firm RÉalisations Inc. Montreal, the property brings to life technology not yet seen in any other hotel in the city. Other digital highlights include the four-story LED clock at the top of the building, a new fixture of the NCY skyline, and a user-friendly “Discovery Portal,” a virtual concierge connected to the hotel’s Navigator program. The addition of the mobile key app continues the hotel’s mission to use technology to improve the guest experience.
