Hospitality Technology Launches First Awards Program Dedicated to Women in Foodservice Technology

Hospitality Technology (HT) magazine is pleased to announce that it is accepting nominations for the first annual Top Women in Foodservice Technology Awards. This program aims to recognize and honor a diverse array of females in the foodservice technology industry, from restaurants and technology suppliers, who are reimagining how things are done in restaurants while demonstrating excellence in leadership, inventiveness and skill.
Nominations can be submitted here. The deadline for nominations is October 1, 2016.
“Although women make up 57% of professional occupations in the U.S. workforce, they hold just 25% of professional computing occupations and only 17% of the Fortune 500 have a female CIO,” says Abigail Lorden, HT’s brand director. “Technology is the great differentiator for today’s companies. HT is championing this program so that it can be an equally great differentiator for the professional growth of women in this industry.”
“We are thrilled to have the chance to pay homage to women from up-and-coming innovators to high-achieving mentors who continue to inspire,” Dorothy Creamer, HT’s editor says. “Innovation and leadership know no gender, but in a historically male-driven space, we want to celebrate the accomplishments of those women who continue to shatter the glass ceiling. We look forward to hearing all the stories of women who are making a mark with their extraordinary service, strategic initiatives and overall impressive participation in foodservice technology.”
The 2017 Honorees will be recognized in three categories including:
Rising Star
Presented to women from any level of an organization, less than five years’ experience in the industry, who have demonstrated leadership and are already making a mark in foodservice technology at an early stage in their careers. From stellar sales reps for IT providers to an up-and-coming social media guru at a restaurant brand, we want to recognize rising star rockstars!
Presented to women who are forward thinkers and who have executed on tools and strategy to transform the foodservice technology space in a positive manner by creating or deploying emerging technologies that reimagine how things are done while paving the way for future technologies.
Influencer: The Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is presented in recognition of a lifetime (no less than 15 years) of service and accomplishments in the foodservice technology industry. We seek to honor women who have had an impact on the foodservice technology industry as well as their colleagues and industry peers through enthusiasm, mentorship and commitment, while also showing how technologies can provide new ways of doing things.
Winners will be chosen by Hospitality Technology magazine and members of its Research Advisory Board. Winners will be profiled in the March 2017 issue of Hospitality Technology. An awards program will also honor the winners at the 22nd annual MURTEC (Multi-Unit Restaurant Technology Conference), being held March 7-9, 2017 at The Rio in Las Vegas.
